New Year's Eve Part One

Hello everyone! It's New Year's Eve!!! Last year on this day, I was scrambling for different pagan related things to do, and I was at a loss. For anyone who may be experiencing this today, I have a list of ideas made that you can work off of.

*An Offering to Chronos
*Nortia's Board
*Renewal of Spells/Charms Done This Past Year
*A Meditation on Endings & Beginnings
*Releasing Old Problems
*Embracing Challenges Ahead

Later tonight, after midnight, I will post here what I did for the holiday!

Pendulum & Cunningham's

Good morning all!

Today, I woke up and to my delight, my pendulum and my copy of Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, & Metal Magic were here! I tested out the pendulum a couple of times, and it worked a little bit, barely moving, though. But when I held it over the Cunningham, it went crazy. First it moved slowly, but it gradually gained speed moving back and forth over the cover of the book. That was neat. I've never used a pendulum before today. I quite like it!

The pendulum itself is pretty low grade lapis. It has a lot more blue and grey than gold. But that's ok, because it's still beautiful & well-working. Also, a plus: in the picture, it looked like the top bead was clear instead of purple, but it's just light purple! Which makes sense for the crown chakra. I'm very excited to start work on my different methods of pendulum use. I already have a few things planned!

Fiction Project Decisions!

Hello everyone!

Today, I finally decided that my fiction project won't be just one book, it will be a trilogy! There are things I want to do with this project that I wouldn't be able to do well if it were limited to one book. Right now, I'm working on a general outline of what will be in which book. I'm pretty excited for it.

Today is the first time in a few weeks that I have done anything with my fiction project because I have been so consumed in my non-fiction project. I'm hoping to balance the two out so that I will be working on both of them at the same time rather than setting one down for a long period of time to work on the other. I just get so lost in it when I start writing one or the other! lol. I love to write.

Well, that's all for now! Be Seeing You!

Blessed an Agate, Back to Earthsong

Good morning all!

Last night, I did my agate blessing for protection against demons and possessions! Right now, it's steeping in a homemade herbal brew until tonight. I have to tell you, last night was the first time I have done real spell work in a long time, and it felt amazing; just being in tune with the elements, my patron deities, and the divine spirit at my altar for the first time since I had that spiritual crisis last month was enough to make me feel at peace for the rest of the night.

Plans for today are pretty awesome. I get to head back to Earthsong to spend $10! :) There were a couple of things that I put back the other day when I went, so I'm happy for the opportunity to go back. After Earthsong, I'm heading to a friend's house to watch Doctor Who. That's always a plus! Beyond that, I'm not sure what's on the schedule of events.

Once I come home tonight, I will be finishing my agate blessing & starting on the experimental phase of a spell concerning demons and emeralds. Til next time!

Earthsong Books & Gifts

Hello everyone!

In my blog, I often mention a store called Earthsong. This post is about that store, so that while reading my blog, you aren't at a complete loss!

At around age 8, sometime after dark one evening, my dad took me with him to a store on a pretty empty stretch of road. I think that we were there to pick up patchouli oil for him; or maybe that's just an assumption I made over time because my father has always worn patchouli, and Earthsong happens to sell it. Anyway, I walked into this store and I was dazzled. There were so many things there that I just loved; boxes filled with stones, fairy statues, candles, spell books, tarot cards, mini crystal balls... amazing things that I'd only ever seen in movies. As dad talked to the woman at the counter, I looked around the store with amazement plainly twinkling in my eyes. This was my first encounter with a store that I would grow to love and bond with.

Over the next few years, I would ask my mom to take me there, and every once in a while she would. Mainly what I bought there were different stones that I thought were pretty. I didn't really visit the store on a normal basis until 2009 when I met my friend Jean-Luc. He'd been going to Earthsong since he was pretty young as well, and he was pagan. Once we became close friends, we started making regular visits to the store together, and often with other mutual friends as well.

I don't make it to Earthsong as much as I'd like to anymore, but hopefully that will be changing soon. I love being inside that building. It always smells of incense, and it has a sort of calmness about it. It's a great place to find spell ingredients and books on the craft as well. They don't just have pagan stuff either. It's a store filled with artifacts from different religions. Earthsong was the first place I ever saw a "Coexist" bumper sticker, and honestly that's what Earthsong is all about: different cultures and religions coexisting in harmony.

I strongly urge people to visit the store! It's an amazing place.  (Address beneath photos)

The Night of the Full Moon, Traditionally Known as... the Night of the Full Moon

Hello everyone!

Today, I'm spending time at home in the presence of my craft. Christmas, while an amazing, joyous time of year, is also filled to the brim with people! This year, for about a week now, my Christmas has left me with no alone time at all. That's what today is all about! Also with the full moon being tonight, I have a few spells & rituals planned.

I am going to bless my agate for protection against demons and possessions, which is my original charm/spell.

Another thing I plan on doing tonight is a tarot exercise my friend Isaac told me about. It's out of a Scott Cunningham book that I actually have in my possession right now. I will be covering the windows in my bedroom, putting me in darkness. Then, I will spread out a tarot deck on my bed in front of me & let my hand guide me to a card. This exercise is to help you figure out what card you most align with.

I'm sure I will be doing other things tonight as well. These are just 2 things I absolutely plan on doing!

Earthsong, Amazon, and the Exclusive Company

Hello all!

This year for Christmas, my dad sent me $50, which was nice. Most of it is officially spent! :P

Today, Panda & I went on a long journey through tiiiiime and space (the mighty boo-ooosh). We didn't actually spend any time with Vince and Howard, but we did go on a long-ish walk. We went to Taco Bell, Earthsong, and the Exclusive Company, and then we came back to my house.

I brought a list with me to Earthsong, but sadly they were either out or didn't carry a lot of the stones I was looking for. I got a nice-sized piece of agate though, and I needed that! Also, I got a bag of my herb/flower of choice, jasmine, some nag champa incense, a sandalwood/vanilla candle, and some purple, black and grey candles!

At the Exclusive Company, I wasn't going to buy anything. I was there with Panda so that he could get things. But then I saw a sign that said "Buy 1 Get 1 Free, Equal or Lesser Value." Then I saw Season One of Gilmore Girls for $7, and Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire for $7. So I got the 2 of them for $7 all together! Yay!

Once I was home, I logged onto the internet. I was hoping to find a nice pendulum for $15 or less at Earthsong, but there wasn't much of a selection there today. I found one on Amazon, however, that I really like & bought. It's a chakra balancing pendulum with a lapis lazuli point! I won't be getting the exact pendulum from the picture, but it will be very close!

I also found a copy of Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, & Metal Magic for $5!!! I almost feel like I'm committing a crime by buying it, lol. I have never seen a Cunningham sold for that cheap. But I suppose I should say my good night!

Well, today is Christmas Day! I may be pagan, but my family has been celebrating Christmas my entire life! Last night, I went to my boyfriend's house and spent some time with him & his family, and that was lovely. Then I came home & spent some time with my own family which was also lovely.

This year for Christmas, my dad sent me a money order for $50... Earthsong is in my near future!!! I have a list of pagan related things that I have been wanting for a while now, so I will be spending the majority of the money on that. I will also be buying a baby shower gift for my friend Dani ^_^

As for today, it's another day filled with family time. We are going to watch our favorite Christmas movies... The Muppets Christmas Carol, The Santa Clause, and if we can find it, The Charlie Brown Christmas Special. Tonight, when everyone's heading to bed, I think I will watch Buffy & Doctor Who Christmas Specials. They're always fun!

Til next time!

Notes & Stuff

Good evening everyone!

9 pages of notes on 18 different stones and metals later, and my hand is cramped! Tonight I am going to review my notes from today and start the planning phase for spells, charms, meditations, and rituals in which some of these stones and metals can be used!

I might also take some notes on the different angels I've found with associations to time. I have lots of notes on demons, and no notes on angels! This needs to change, lol. I have a book out from the library called Encyclopedia of Angels by Richard Webster & I've gone through it & written down the names of the angels that have associations with time. I'm planning now on going back and taking notes on said angels.

Other than that, I don't really know what I will be up to tonight. I might take a look through some of the other books I have out from the library, or I might just rest. Either way, I hope you all have a pleasant evening!

Research & Stones

Hello everyone!

Today, I am doing research! At this very moment, I am taking notes from Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic! That man was a genius. Of all the people to help me with the development of time in magic, of course it's Scott Cunningham, may he rest in peace. He has informed me of many useful things, especially that of why I am attracted to certain stones. Reading his book, I have realized that most of the stones I love the most are actually used in different sorts of time rituals and spells!

Other than Scott Cunningham, today I will be looking to other authors for time in magic; Ann Moura, Edain McCoy, and Raven Grimassi being 3 of them. I'm very excited about my research. Even though I have just started my development project, my research has brought me so far and so much closer to the end result. Of course, I am sure that it will take a few years for this to come full circle, but I am motivated!

Anyway, this was just a quick update on my day so far. Perhaps I will be back later to share further findings!

A Brief Discussion of Moments

Hello all!

I was searching around on the internet for ambient sounds for my eternal time meditation, and oddly enough, I found a video to help describe momentary time! Caerus is at it again! Well, as I was watching this video, I thought of a new way to describe moments, and I thought I would do that here.

Rain is falling down hard all around. There is a leaf that water is dripping slowly from. All of the rain around the leaf is quick & fast paced; but falling from this leaf, it takes it’s time, dripping down the center veins of the leaf until it gets to the tip/point. It considers whether or not it wants to drop off of the leaf until it finally lets go and falls.

This shows us that time does not stop in the moment for anyone or anything outside of that moment, despite how it may sometimes seem.  The world is rushing around us. People have their own lives to worry about. We may be having one of the most intense, passionate, slowest moving moments of our lives, but outside of that moment, people are still rushing about, going to work, going to lunch, shopping, hurrying; but within our moment, we don’t notice them, just as they don’t notice us.

The Yule Party & The Snow

Hello all!

I spent my afternoon and evening at my friend's house for our annual Yule party! It was nice. We ate a lot of delicious food, exchanged gifts, played some awesome jenga, and roleplayed for a bit. Our night was cut short by a text message from my mom telling us they were pulling the plows off the road for the night, so instead of taking the risk of being stuck all night, we headed out early.

While it's sad the party got cut short, I will have time to do some research and experimenting tonight! I always seem to come up with good ideas while showering. Tonight when I got home & hopped in the shower, I thought of an awesome way to experience & to teach others the different forms of Time through guided meditations. A little later on in the night, I will be developing said meditations. I'm very excited for it!

I am also going to be spending some time with my mom tonight, watching the snow fall & playing cards while listening to Michael Bolton's Christmas album; something that has become a yearly tradition during the first big snowfall!

I suppose we've reached goodbye for now! I will probably post here again a little past midnight to let everyone know how my apocalypse is going! <3

Herb Stuff!

Today, while I was digging through my box of herbs, I found a jar of jasmine that I didn't know I had! It made me really happy, because jasmine is my favorite herb/flower to work with. I only have about a cup of it, but it's more than I thought I had!

A long time ago, I started an herb journal where I wrote down well-known uses for herbs and also my personal uses for herbs. I only ever made 2 or 3 entries, but now I am thinking about getting back into it. Explaining how and why I use certain herbs seems like a good idea so that in the future I'll remember, and also so that I can advise others who ask me about herbs.

On another herby note, a few days ago I came up with an herbal mixture to bless a piece of agate with protection against demons & possessions. Today, I made the mixture, and now I am hoping to go to Earthsong in the near future to pick up a nice piece of agate to bless. I'm hoping to find something green.

Anyhow, I thought I'd share this random herby nonsense with you all before bed!

Goodnight & Be Seeing You!

Tests, Time, Yule, and the End of the World!

Hello everyone!

Yesterday, I went to the Job Center here in Janesville to take my writing test for the HSED. Even though English has always been my best subject, I was worried about passing the test. Less than halfway through the test, my eye began twitching involuntarily. The writing mistakes were not only painfully obvious, they were also painfully terrible! One of the questions included a sentence with the words "governor Phillips," in them, asked what was wrong with the sentence, and it was multiple choice. Suffice it to say, I am positive that I passed the test, and I am hoping that I passed with a perfect score.

As for today, I am going to be running to the library because I'm not sure when I will have a chance to again. We are expecting a snowstorm anywhere between now and Thursday, so I want to pick up MirrorMask which just got in for me!

After the library, I am planning on spending some time researching Time in magic. I have a few books out from the library that are promising. Each of them has hints of time in magic in them, and some have more than just hints. I am excited to be developing this idea. I sort of feel like once I am done developing it, it will be my gift to the pagan community. Over the years, people in the pagan community have done so much to help me grow as a person and as a witch, I feel like this new perspective on things will be my way of saying thank you.

Tomorrow is Yule this year! Usually Yule falls on the 21st, but as you know, this year was Leap Year, which means it falls on the 20th! My friends and I will be gathering again for the 3rd year in a row at our friend Luca's to celebrate this lovely occasion!

Now on to the end of the world! The day after tomorrow is supposed to mark the end of the world, according to conspiracy theorists around the globe! I however, do not believe this. I'm going to go to sleep tomorrow night and wake up the next day. I'll be spending that day with my lovely Panda, then I will go to bed again, and wake up again on Saturday. This is how it's going to work, as long as I don't die from something non-apocalypse related. Which I think would be totally lame.

Timey Ammonite!

Today while I was at the library, I found a book on crystals. I brought it home and as I was looking through it, I found out that the 2 ammonites that I have can both be used in time rituals and spells! Neat! I wanted to share that here because it excited me! <3

A Day to Ground & Center

Hello everyone.

Today for me is a day for grounding and centering. Yesterday, my mind felt very chaotic, moving in all different directions at once, and completely unbalanced. Today, I want to feel the opposite of that. I'm going to decorate the house and tree with my mom, spend some time in my room to ground and center, and maybe do some research & studying. Perhaps I will be back later with stories from the day. Til then!

Elemental Spell Speeds

I watched a video a while back about elemental spells and the speeds at which they work, and I thought I would post them here.

Paraphrase of CharmingPixieFlora's Video:

Earth spells are the spells that take the longest to achieve results. Usually with an Earth spell, you bury an object or objects. These spells are gradual with no shock to the system.

Water and Air spells take less time than Earth but more time than Fire to take effect; not too fast, not too slow.

Fire spells are the fastest working spells and produce immediate results. Candle magic is the slowest form of fire magic, but is still quicker than Earth, Air, and Water.

Morning Air/Hearing Meditation

Hi everyone!

Over the past few months, I have been wanting to do element/senses meditations, but I haven't been able to find the time. This morning, I woke up to an empty house & a rainy day. I opened my bedroom window, took out the stone I have dedicated to Air, and I closed my eyes to meditate.

I meditated on the sounds of the rain hitting the pavement outside my window, cars driving by, trees rubbing against each other in the slight breeze, and eventually I fell into a trance like state. I heard distance, I heard echos, and I heard the air.

At one point a thought surfaced in my mind. I have never really understood why Air is associated with Spring, since the air is much more brisk and apparent in the Winter. During this meditation, I heard all sorts of things drifting to my ears on the air, but I didn't hear any birds.

Then it occurred to me: there are no birds out in the winter. There are all sorts of earthly creatures roaming around, but all of the birds fly south for the winter. I am positive this isn't the reason why Air is associated with Spring, but it's a good enough reason for me, and I think that Gaia knew that!

Developing the Idea of Time in Magic

The more I ask about time magic, the more I get criticized. Well, it is something that exists. It may exist in a very small, unnoticed way, but it exists. An answer I got on Yahoo Answers yesterday made me realize that I am probably going to have to build this sect of magic myself without many resources to work with.

"Meditation is to seek spiritual truth within. There might not really be a 'type' of it, just you have to look for the right answers inside. Furthermore, it might be effective if you learn from within rather than build on the already limited knowledge of others. If you think about it beforehand, then you might get an idea you might not have gotten from the mindset boundaries of other peoples` works. It's structure, but a structure builds around something, most times not the most ideal of ways."

The person who said this is right. I've searched and searched elsewhere for answers as to what I'm looking for, but I haven't exactly gone within to search for it. I would like to have as many resources as I can, but it also seems as though I will have to do most of the developing myself.

I don't want to, nor do I think I can, travel in time. That is ridiculous. Over the next couple of years, however, I will develop and release to the pagan community the idea of time in magic. Divination is part of time magic. What else is divination than looking into the past or the future? There are many other parts to the whole of time magic, some I know, and some I have to learn. I am looking forward to this development now that I have realized how I will have to go about it.

Welcome the Journey

When I was 15, I started at a project based high school called TAGOS Leadership Academy, which was then in it's first year. On the very first day of school, I walked into the building and the first thing that I saw was a sign that said "Welcome the Journey." Honestly, I thought "Oh great. Motivational phrases. This is going to be greeeaaaat." Well, it was!

Going to school at a place that was still in development was both challenging and fun. As first year students, we were involved in the making of a lot of school rules and choosing the mascot, the tiger. "Welcome the Journey," is the perfect phrase for many reasons. Anything in life you set out to do is a journey in itself, and it's wonderful. TAGOS has been one of my favorite journeys in my life so far. I may not have graduated from TAGOS, but I certainly learned more in my years there than I did at any other school, and I learned it in a really fun way.

The point of this blog post is to let everyone know why you will be seeing the words "Welcome the Journey," on my blog quite a bit. While it is the perfect phrase, I'm not sure I would think so if it weren't for TAGOS. I have a lot to be thankful for when it comes to that school. Knowing and understanding that life is a series of journeys is one of those things.

Time Developments!

Hey everyone!

I am writing to tell you that I have recently been developing more time magic! Since it's nearly impossible to find, I have to write spells, rituals, and meditations myself. Don't get me wrong, there are other authors who have written these things, but there are barely any that I have been able to find outside of regular divination!

Among my recent developments are:
  • Sending Energy Through Time (still working on this)
  • 2 Divination Using Cross Stone and a Pendulum (also still working on this one, I need to acquire a pendulum!)
  • Meditation With Aion God of Eternity
I know this isn't a lot, but it's a big step in the direction of developing this type of magic. It's very exciting for me, and I can't wait to share these spells/rituals/meditations with people!

Reinvention Means a New Craft Name

Ever since my time of questioning & realization, I have been searching for a new Craft Name. Anouchka no longer fits me. It has associations connected to it that I don't want anymore, and I feel that if I continued to use it, it would only weigh me down in some ways.

At first, I considered Horatia; it means "hour," and it's the female equivalent of a name I have always loved: Horatio. What I don't like, however, is how grandiose it sounds. A lot of people who choose Craft Names choose them to make themselves sound important. I want something that describes me. After doing some research and digging, I found a 3 names that fit me in an amazing way.

Kieran Horatia Owain. I will introduce myself as Kieran Owain, however, just as I would introduce myself as Annie Showers-Curtis rather than Annie Elizabeth Showers-Curtis. I think that Kieran Owain sounds much less grandiose than Horatia!

Kieran is a Gaelic boy's name that I have always been fond of which means "little dark one." I don't mean this to sound cliche or as if I were a brooding goth girl looking for the pessimism in life. There is light in everyone, and there is dark in everyone. The eternal balance demands it. The name Kieran, to and for me, represents the ataraxia found in the dark.

Horatia, as I said, means "hour." Anyone who has read my blog for a significant amount of time can tell you that my patron god is Chronos, God of Time, and that I am doing a lot of research and development into time magic. This name, to me, represents my dedication to time.

Owain (which is pronounced Owen) means "born from the yew tree." Sometime last year, I started to grow very fond of the yew tree. It has associations with time, it's sometimes considered the tree of life or the Yggdrasil, and of course it is plainly a beautiful tree.

Kieran Horatia Owain literally means Little Dark Hour of the Yew Tree, and I feel that this name fits me well. I've made a Facebook Page under this name for purpose of connecting with other pagans or spiritualists. Feel free to add me: Kieran Owain
