New Year's Eve Part One

Hello everyone! It's New Year's Eve!!! Last year on this day, I was scrambling for different pagan related things to do, and I was at a loss. For anyone who may be experiencing this today, I have a list of ideas made that you can work off of.

*An Offering to Chronos
*Nortia's Board
*Renewal of Spells/Charms Done This Past Year
*A Meditation on Endings & Beginnings
*Releasing Old Problems
*Embracing Challenges Ahead
*etc.

Later tonight, after midnight, I will post here what I did for the holiday!

Be Seeing You!

Pendulum & Cunningham's

Good morning all!

Today, I woke up and to my delight, my pendulum and my copy of Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, & Metal Magic were here! I tested out the pendulum a couple of times, and it worked a little bit, barely moving, though. But when I held it over the Cunningham, it went crazy. First it moved slowly, but it gradually gained speed moving back and forth over the cover of the book. That was neat. I've never used a pendulum before today. I quite like it!

The pendulum itself is pretty low grade lapis. It has a lot more blue and grey than gold. But that's ok, because it's still beautiful & well-working. Also, a plus: in the picture, it looked like the top bead was clear instead of purple, but it's just light purple! Which makes sense for the crown chakra. I'm very excited to start work on my different methods of pendulum use. I already have a few things planned!

Blessed an Agate, Back to Earthsong

Good morning all!

Last night, I did my agate blessing for protection. Right now, it's steeping in a homemade herbal brew until tonight. I have to tell you, last night was the first time I have done real spell work in a long time, and it felt amazing; just being in tune with the elements, my patron deities, and the divine spirit at my altar for the first time since I had that spiritual crisis last month was enough to make me feel at peace for the rest of the night.

Plans for today are pretty awesome. I get to head back to Earthsong to spend $10! :) There were a couple of things that I put back the other day when I went, so I'm happy for the opportunity to go back. After Earthsong, I'm heading to a friend's house to watch Doctor Who. That's always a plus! Beyond that, I'm not sure what's on the schedule of events.

Once I come home tonight, I will be finishing my agate blessing & starting on the experimental phase of a spell. Til next time!

Earthsong Books & Gifts

Hello everyone!

In my blog, I often mention a store called Earthsong. This post is about that store, so that while reading my blog, you aren't at a complete loss!

At around age 8, sometime after dark one evening, my dad took me with him to a store on a pretty empty stretch of road. I think that we were there to pick up patchouli oil for him; or maybe that's just an assumption I made over time because my father has always worn patchouli, and Earthsong happens to sell it. Anyway, I walked into this store and I was dazzled. There were so many things there that I just loved; boxes filled with stones, fairy statues, candles, spell books, tarot cards, mini crystal balls... amazing things that I'd only ever seen in movies. As dad talked to the woman at the counter, I looked around the store with amazement plainly twinkling in my eyes. This was my first encounter with a store that I would grow to love and bond with.

Over the next few years, I would ask my mom to take me there, and every once in a while she would. Mainly what I bought there were different stones that I thought were pretty. I didn't really visit the store on a normal basis until 2009 when I met my friend Jean-Luc. He'd been going to Earthsong since he was pretty young as well, and he was pagan. Once we became close friends, we started making regular visits to the store together, and often with other mutual friends as well.

I don't make it to Earthsong as much as I'd like to anymore, but hopefully that will be changing soon. I love being inside that building. It always smells of incense, and it has a sort of calmness about it. It's a great place to find spell ingredients and books on the craft as well. They don't just have pagan stuff either. It's a store filled with artifacts from different religions. Earthsong was the first place I ever saw a "Coexist" bumper sticker, and honestly that's what Earthsong is all about: different cultures and religions coexisting in harmony.

I strongly urge people to visit the store! It's an amazing place.  (Address beneath photos)

The Night of the Full Moon, Traditionally Known as... the Night of the Full Moon

Hello everyone!

Today, I'm spending time at home in the presence of my craft. Christmas, while an amazing, joyous time of year, is also filled to the brim with people! This year, for about a week now, my Christmas has left me with no alone time at all. That's what today is all about! Also with the full moon being tonight, I have a few spells & rituals planned.

I am going to bless my agate for protection.

Another thing I plan on doing tonight is a tarot exercise my friend Isaac told me about. It's out of a Scott Cunningham book that I actually have in my possession right now. I will be covering the windows in my bedroom, putting me in darkness. Then, I will spread out a tarot deck on my bed in front of me & let my hand guide me to a card. This exercise is to help you figure out what card you most align with.

I'm sure I will be doing other things tonight as well. These are just 2 things I absolutely plan on doing!

Be Seeing You!

Earthsong, Amazon, and the Exclusive Company

Hello all!

Today, Panda & I went on a long journey through tiiiiime and space (the mighty boo-ooosh). We didn't actually spend any time with Vince and Howard, but we did go on a long-ish walk. We went to Taco Bell, Earthsong, and the Exclusive Company, and then we came back to my house.

I brought a list with me to Earthsong, but sadly they were either out or didn't carry a lot of the stones I was looking for. I got a nice-sized piece of agate though, and I needed that! Also, I got a bag of my herb/flower of choice, jasmine, some nag champa incense, a sandalwood/vanilla candle, and some purple, black and grey candles!

At the Exclusive Company, I wasn't going to buy anything. I was there with Panda so that he could get things. But then I saw a sign that said "Buy 1 Get 1 Free, Equal or Lesser Value." Then I saw Season One of Gilmore Girls for $7, and Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire for $7. So I got the 2 of them for $7 all together! Yay!

Once I was home, I logged onto the internet. I was hoping to find a nice pendulum at Earthsong, but there wasn't much of a selection there today. I found one on Amazon, however, that I really like & bought. It's a chakra balancing pendulum with a lapis lazuli point! I won't be getting the exact pendulum from the picture, but it will be very close!

I also found a copy of Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, & Metal Magic.

I suppose I should say my good night!

Christmastime

Well, today is Christmas Day! I may be pagan, but my family has been celebrating Christmas my entire life! Last night, I went to my boyfriend's house and spent some time with him & his family, and that was lovely. Then I came home & spent some time with my own family which was also lovely.

This year for Christmas, my dad sent me a money order for $50... Earthsong is in my near future!!! I have a list of pagan related things that I have been wanting for a while now, so I will be spending the majority of the money on that. I will also be buying a baby shower gift for my friend Dani ^_^

As for today, it's another day filled with family time. We are going to watch our favorite Christmas movies... The Muppets Christmas Carol, The Santa Clause, and if we can find it, The Charlie Brown Christmas Special. Tonight, when everyone's heading to bed, I think I will watch Buffy & Doctor Who Christmas Specials. They're always fun!

Til next time!

A Brief Discussion of Moments

Hello all!

I was searching around on the internet for ambient sounds for my eternal time meditation, and oddly enough, I found a video to help describe momentary time! Caerus is at it again! Well, as I was watching this video, I thought of a new way to describe moments, and I thought I would do that here.

Rain is falling down hard all around. There is a leaf that water is dripping slowly from. All of the rain around the leaf is quick & fast paced; but falling from this leaf, it takes it’s time, dripping down the center veins of the leaf until it gets to the tip/point. It considers whether or not it wants to drop off of the leaf until it finally lets go and falls.

This shows us that time does not stop in the moment for anyone or anything outside of that moment, despite how it may sometimes seem.  The world is rushing around us. People have their own lives to worry about. We may be having one of the most intense, passionate, slowest moving moments of our lives, but outside of that moment, people are still rushing about, going to work, going to lunch, shopping, hurrying; but within our moment, we don’t notice them, just as they don’t notice us.

The Yule Party & The Snow

Hello all!

I spent my afternoon and evening at my friend's house for our annual Yule party! It was nice. We ate a lot of delicious food, exchanged gifts, played some awesome jenga, and roleplayed for a bit. Our night was cut short by a text message from my mom telling us they were pulling the plows off the road for the night, so instead of taking the risk of being stuck all night, we headed out early.

While it's sad the party got cut short, I will have time to do some research and experimenting tonight! I always seem to come up with good ideas while showering. Tonight when I got home & hopped in the shower, I thought of an awesome way to experience & to teach others the different forms of Time through guided meditations. A little later on in the night, I will be developing said meditations. I'm very excited for it!

I am also going to be spending some time with my mom tonight, watching the snow fall & playing cards while listening to Michael Bolton's Christmas album; something that has become a yearly tradition during the first big snowfall!

I suppose we've reached goodbye for now! I will probably post here again a little past midnight to let everyone know how my apocalypse is going! <3

Herb Stuff!

Today, while I was digging through my box of herbs, I found a jar of jasmine that I didn't know I had! It made me really happy, because jasmine is my favorite herb/flower to work with. I only have about a cup of it, but it's more than I thought I had!

A long time ago, I started an herb journal where I wrote down well-known uses for herbs and also my personal uses for herbs. I only ever made 2 or 3 entries, but now I am thinking about getting back into it. Explaining how and why I use certain herbs seems like a good idea so that in the future I'll remember, and also so that I can advise others who ask me about herbs.

On another herby note, a few days ago I came up with an herbal mixture to bless a piece of agate with protection. Today, I made the mixture, and now I am hoping to go to Earthsong in the near future to pick up a nice piece of agate to bless. I'm hoping to find something green.

Anyhow, I thought I'd share this random herby nonsense with you all before bed!

Timey Ammonite!

Today while I was at the library, I found a book on crystals. I brought it home and as I was looking through it, I found out that the 2 ammonites that I have can both be used in time rituals and spells! Neat! I wanted to share that here because it excited me! <3

A Day to Ground & Center

Hello everyone.

Today for me is a day for grounding and centering. Yesterday, my mind felt very chaotic, moving in all different directions at once, and completely unbalanced. Today, I want to feel the opposite of that. I'm going to decorate the house and tree with my mom, spend some time in my room to ground and center, and maybe do some research & studying. Perhaps I will be back later with stories from the day. Til then!

Elemental Spell Speeds

I watched a video a while back about elemental spells and the speeds at which they work, and I thought I would post them here.

Paraphrase of CharmingPixieFlora's Video:

Earth spells are the spells that take the longest to achieve results. Usually with an Earth spell, you bury an object or objects. These spells are gradual with no shock to the system.

Water and Air spells take less time than Earth but more time than Fire to take effect; not too fast, not too slow.

Fire spells are the fastest working spells and produce immediate results. Candle magic is the slowest form of fire magic, but is still quicker than Earth, Air, and Water.

Morning Air/Hearing Meditation

Hi everyone!

Over the past few months, I have been wanting to do element/senses meditations, but I haven't been able to find the time. This morning, I woke up to an empty house & a rainy day. I opened my bedroom window, took out the stone I have dedicated to Air, and I closed my eyes to meditate.

I meditated on the sounds of the rain hitting the pavement outside my window, cars driving by, trees rubbing against each other in the slight breeze, and eventually I fell into a trance like state. I heard distance, I heard echos, and I heard the air.

At one point a thought surfaced in my mind. I have never really understood why Air is associated with Spring, since the air is much more brisk and apparent in the Winter. During this meditation, I heard all sorts of things drifting to my ears on the air, but I didn't hear any birds.

Then it occurred to me: there are no birds out in the winter. There are all sorts of earthly creatures roaming around, but all of the birds fly south for the winter. I am positive this isn't the reason why Air is associated with Spring, but it's a good enough reason for me, and I think that Gaia knew that!

Welcome the Journey

When I was 15, I started at a project based high school called TAGOS Leadership Academy, which was then in it's first year. On the very first day of school, I walked into the building and the first thing that I saw was a sign that said "Welcome the Journey." Honestly, I thought "Oh great. Motivational phrases. This is going to be greeeaaaat." Well, it was!

Going to school at a place that was still in development was both challenging and fun. As first year students, we were involved in the making of a lot of school rules and choosing the mascot, the tiger. "Welcome the Journey," is the perfect phrase for many reasons. Anything in life you set out to do is a journey in itself, and it's wonderful. TAGOS has been one of my favorite journeys in my life so far. I may not have graduated from TAGOS, but I certainly learned more in my years there than I did at any other school, and I learned it in a really fun way.

The point of this blog post is to let everyone know why you will be seeing the words "Welcome the Journey," on my blog quite a bit. While it is the perfect phrase, I'm not sure I would think so if it weren't for TAGOS. I have a lot to be thankful for when it comes to that school. Knowing and understanding that life is a series of journeys is one of those things.

Lightning Rod

Hello all!

With all of the recent changes in my life, I thought I should give an explanation.  Since I was 13 years old (I am now 20), I have been practicing paganism. I have always had certain doubts, but of course who hasn't?

Along with the spiritual stuff, there has also been a lot of paranormal stuff that my friends and I have experienced. A lot of it seemed insane, and a lot of the time I only half believed it, but I truly felt like I was losing my mind.

However, I never completely questioned my faith or my supernatural experiences until about a month ago. The reason doesn't matter, but I was left questioning whether or not any of what I have practiced or experienced was "real" or "legitimate."

I sought out spiritual guidance, I even contacted someone who is considered a spiritual teacher of sorts, but everywhere I turned, I found static. I didn't receive any answers from outside sources, and I didn't know how to approach my pagan friends with this issue, as I was worried they would be upset with my questioning.

I felt completely lost. And what do most humans do when they feel lost? I revisited my childhood to find comfort. Boy, did I find it. I watched my favorite childhood TV show, So Weird.

So Weird was the show that got me interested in the paranormal to begin with. Fi Phillips travels with her musician mother all around the US (and sometimes Ireland) and she experiences weird things. The episode that I chose really opened my eyes & helped me to find the correct path.

The episode is called Lightning Rod. It's the last episode with Fi in it, and the first episode with Annie Thelen, Fi's replacement. Bricriu, a will o the wisp that Fi has encountered twice before returns to Fi's home in Colorado claiming to have knowledge that Fi's family is in danger.

He tells her to read a spell out of her grandmother's spellbook, but as she doesn't trust him, she reads a different one instead. This results in Fi's friends and family transforming into different plants and animals. Fi reads the reversal spell, and she returns to Bricriu to recite the spell he originally asked her to read. Before she reads the spell, she asks him what the spell will do. He replies:

"Fiona Phillips, you have a gift. And you've used it to see wonderful things. But there are spirits on this side who are angry with your intrusions into their world.....[and] when you open a door, it doesn't just mean you can get in. It also means things can get out.....With this spell, you agree to block your ability to enter my world. It is the only way to keep your loved ones safe from attacks like today's, or worse."

Convinced that cutting herself off from her paranormal ventures is the only way to keep herself and her family safe, she reads the spell from the book:

"Though I have eyes, I close them tight,
Snuff the candle, douse the light,
Willingly, I lock the door,
Break the key to see no more."

Bricriu tells Fi to look at her ring. As she does, the celtic knot engraving on the ring disappears. From this moment on, Fi loses her ability to experience paranormal things. She can still research them, but as for seeing them firsthand, she is cut off, which she later confirms by saying to her mother: "The other stuff... it's gone."

Watching this episode again made me realize that I didn't have to completely drop paganism – I still have the same belief system, and I still feel rooted in the Earth; but what I can drop is the paranormal stuff. The things that drove me crazy to begin with. The things that most of the time I never completely believed in anyway.

The minute I made that realization, I felt a burden lift from my chest. Over the next few days, the fog from my mind cleared and it was obvious to me that this was the right decision.

I don’t know if this makes sense to anyone but me, but then again, I don’t know if it needs to. I feel better, and I feel freed. I know that it seems silly that a Disney show helped in a major life decision, but it is something I have been familiar with for most of my life, so I suppose it makes sense that it would help clear my head.

To mark this point in my life, I will be getting a tattoo of the celtic knot from Fi’s ring, made of lightning.
